I am about to call my dealer about bringing my 99 9-5 2.3L Auto with 36K miles in for the third time with the same complaint: Oil smoke on startup when the car has been sitting 3-5 hours. First complaint was at 30K service. This had been happening for a while before the service, but I knew I was going to be without the car for at least a day at the 30K service, and figured they could handle it then. They also did the emissions recall(something about a banjo bolt), and claimed that should fix the problem. Lo and behold, it did not, and I complained again and left the car with the dealer to do the ECU recall and fix the smoke problem. This time they pulled some codes from the TECH II and ordered an "injector connector". They kept the car an extra day waiting for the part(they gave me a loaner). Guess what? Still smokes on startup. Before I use my 'stern voice' with the service manager, does anyone have any input? Should I go directly to SaabUSA now, or give the dealer another chance? Anyone else had this problem, and know what was done to resolve it?
Additional details:
1 owner
oil changes every 5K miles
not just a 'puff' of smoke, but a cloud!
minimal but noticable long term effect on oil level(<.5 qt in 5K miles)
Thanks for any input!
