Not unusual to have some consumption after initial change to synthetic. Normally caused by cleaning action. I wouldn't go back to semisynthetic. Castrol is OK, but I prefer a PAO based synthetic.
Front wheel drive automatics normally run hotter than rear wheel drive, because the tranny is nestled with the engine. My rule of thumb with non-synthetics is to change what is in the pan every 15K for front wheel, 25K for rear wheel. If it hasn't been done for a while, do it three times in reasonably short order to get most of it changed now, then do the maintenance. If you use a good synthetic ATF, such as AMSOIL, you can go at least 3 times longer between drains. Yep, I know Saab recommends not using synthetic--they did the same for engine oil for about 24 years, until they got a bottle which said "Saab" on it.
Anti freeze--yearly or every two years at most.
Brake fluid--yearly, two years at most. Might look into speed bleeders.
