I have seen this before. The rings were sticking. The FakeTec(tm), released the rings and started cleaning deposits from the sides of the pistons. The oil control rings may also have been stuck. After things loosened up, the rings had to get 're-seated' and after that things are fine.
Sounds like a success story to me. Now use a real synthetic like Mobil 0W40 and ditch the FakeTek(tm).
At 123K you should do all the fluids (auto-trany). If you do a cooling system flush, a new T-stat might be a good idea.
Bleed the brakes and change the fluid at the brake reservoir every year.
