Well its too late now, the Mobile 1 0w30 is in. After seeing that Saab now sells a fully synthetic 0w30, I assumed it would be ok. Isn't Saab oil just rebranded Mobile 1?

Oil part number: 12801563
SAAB list price: $5.25 each

Search on that ever popular auction site for:
"SAAB Synthetic Oil Change Kit 900 9-3 9-5 "

Looking elsewhere on the net I found this info on the Saab Club of Canada site. Apparently, it was given in a presentation by a Saab Marketing Manager atthe November 2002 - Annual meeting with SAAB group at General Motors in Oshawa, Ontario.

"The new 9-3 comes with Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and the crankcase oil capacity has been increased to 6 litres. The recommended oil change interval will range from 12,000km/1 year up to 24,000km/2 years. An oil life monitor will indicate when an oil change is recommended. The only oil that meets the recommended GM Long Life specifications at present in North America is Mobil 1 0W40. In Europe the 0W30 is recommended and the European Mobil 1 0W30 meets the GMLL specs, but the North American Mobil 1 0W30 does not - only the 0W40 meets the GMLL specs at present."

***This info refers to the NEW 9-3. I have the OLD 9-3. In your infinite oil wisdom, do you guys think that Mobile 1 0w30 synthetic will be bad for my car using 7000 mile change intervals? I expect temps will range -5 to 85.
