My 9-5 isn't an Aero and this will be my first winter with the car. I too live in Rochester. For many years with both front wheel drive and with rear wheel drive cars, I have used 4 studded snows for the winter. They certainly build the comfort and confidence level for winter driving.

My 9-5 has the Gary Fisher wheels w/225/45x17s and I was warned that esp with the OEM Michelins that snows would be almost mandatory ( I really didn't need the warning to know that I should use snows).

I was lucky enough to find a used set of studded Gislaved's on Saab pattern steel wheels for $150 with hubcaps. The tires were previously on a NS900/9-3 and are 185/65x15s. I was told with the standard 9-5 brakes that I would have no trouble using 15" wheels, but that Aero brakes required 16" wheels.

I don't look forward to winter, but will certainly feel more comfortable faciing it, knowing that I have the 4 studded snows on the car.
