I don't think DIY is the way for the ACC fix(+)

What you can do is try to find a used heat exchanger, or better yet, the shaft itself from a wreck or smth. This will leave you "only" with labor costs. The job involves complete disassembly of the dash, center console, front seats, steering wheel, wipers, ACC motor, the heatexchanger itself etc. At least i was lucky enough to find a busted heat exchanger (the wreck guy told me that the donor 9-5 crashed into a wall doing 60 km/h).

I don't have any experience with head gaskets, but I don't see why does it have to cost that much to replace it. This is where i believe DIY is acceptable providing you know the instructions to allign all the shafts correctly when putting the thing back together.

And you have to be really sure it's the head gasket that's leaking, cuz for example a leaking oil pressure meter can make it look very much like it, and it costs a few bucks to replace...
