If the baffle in the tank isn't installed right (shoved into the tank through the access cover under the back seat), it can interfere with the tank sender. I'm on my second baffle in my '01 Aero.
The right way to do this is for the tech to drop the tank out of the car then install.
As Pat says, try to bring it in as close to empty, for the tech's sake.
