I think that a plastics safe carb cleaner might be a contradiction in terms. Carb cleaner will mess up paint, so take care.
I have found that TB deposits cleaned up on the T5 TB's with a clean cloth with some mild solvent like common paint thinners. Open the throttle plate and just wipe away. No need for something as agressive as carb cleaner. But is you use that, it is a degreaser too. I would put a drop of oil on the throttle plate shafts. The T5 IAC valves did create a tough hard deposit that that did require carb cleaner. Why one was a nasty deposit and one was not seemed odd as it was the same air stream. The T7 motorized TB does not need, so does not have an IAC valve.
When on boost, there is some oil in the air that may keep the TB deposits softer than those that one would find in a IAC valve.
The T7 intake tube has a combo MAP and intake air temp sensor that needs to be disconnected. And there is a bolt to the head. 13mm I think. That mid point bolted connection must be undone. When putting things back together, make sure that there is no oil or grease when things get hose clamped together. Friction is a big part of these not blowing off.
