I recently installed a set of Bilstein sports and Eibach springs on my 2,000 LPT sedan. What I learned from the postings here and confirmed by Bilstein is that the HD and Sport models are identical but for the overall length. The Bilstein technical person I spoke with insisted that there was no difference in the valving between the two models that fit the Saab 95.

From what I understand, the Eibach springs are slightly stiffer than the stock Aero springs and the Bilsteins are a good match for the Eibachs. They should be fine for the stock Aero springs.

I did read some postings that claimed that the stock Aero spring length will allow the use of either the HD or the Sport struts, but you should verify this.

I can't speak first hand about the ride difference between the stock Aero dampers and the Bilsteins, but from what I have read in posting here the consensus seems to be that the Bilsteins are firmer.

The difference between the stock LPT suspension and the Eibach/Bilstein set up is radically different. I find that I feel more of the surface irregularities around town but the improved handling and control on the freeway and mountain roads is fantastic. I have also upgraded the anti sway bars to the 2003 Aero version which telegraphs some additional road feel over the bars they replaced.

I was concerned that the Bilsteins might make the ride too harsh and considered the adjustable Koni as a hedge. If you do a lot of miles on bad roads and city streets you may want to go the Koni route. Be aware that making adjustments requires removal of the rear shocks and removing the upper strut mounting plates.

From what I can gather, Koni set at their softest setting is softer than Bilstein. The flip side is that Bilsteins are considered by most enthusiasts as a more sophisticated damper and superior for high speed and or hard driving.

I do mostly freeway driving and am happy with the ride. My wife takes my car to do a 220 mile day trip, once a week. 90% if the drive is freeway and involves a stretch mountain highway. She loves the way the car drives, on the other hand her daily driver is a Jeep Cherokee.

In the end, I am willing to accept a tad more harshness for better control. You will need to decide for yourself.
Good Luck!
