When it came down to the dreaded haggling of price, the dealer had two used wagons that we wanted. One a 4cylinder. One a 6. Both silver. Both identical interiors and options. 4 cylinder had a CD changer. 6 had ventilated seats, no changer. When test driving the two in 90 degree weather, those ventilated seat sure were comfy. Plus, I liked the performance of the 6 better than the 4. We got the 6 for the same price as a 6 without ventilated seats might have gone for based on the price research I did and relative to the price of the 4 cylinder.
Would I pay for that option in a new car? Before I had them, probably not. Now that I do, yes, I probably would. Besides, what's an extra $1K when you're talking about a $40k car? $1k in a $10k car is a 10% difference which is significant. $1k in a $40k car is only a 2.5% difference. Not that much more. I don't have money growing in backyard by any means. In fact, I'd say I'm in kind of a drought. Anyone else? But, the ventilated seats are a nice "luxury" and worth treating yourself to if you care to pay for it.
