Thanks to a heads-up alert on this board about the $7k Saab incentives on the '03 Aeros, I placed some calls. I ended up with an '03 Aero + auto + Touring: less$500 loyalty; $500 CA tax allow.; ~$500 actual CA tax cut (!); & trade in 2000 Aero man tranny w/ 85K mi = $23850 out-the-door. This is a good deal.
First impressions::
Auto tranny- 1st time auto for main car in forty years of driving, it's different but I need more miles driven before passing judgement. The manual shifters (paddles) works much quicker than advertised when they're hit at the "right" time. The engine needs a lot more miles to get loose before this can really be tested.
Parking Asst- cooler than I thought & it works
ACC- seems better behaved than the 2000.
Seats- only a short break-in time needed, but, this is better than 2000 shape. Seat cushion is still too short
Sound sys- no mention of being different, but the sound is much improved from 2000.
Handling- not dramatic but noticably better tracking on curves & on harsh pavement
micro note: 2000 parts content Sweden 28% & Germany 22%. engine& trans from Sweden// 2003parts Sweden 28%, Germany 31% engine from Germany & trans from Japan. Trollhatton slowly moving south?
Question
The build date is 7/02, meaning it's been on a lot for ~16 mo. Would you recommend an oil change now based on time rather than miles? Any other suggestions of things to do?
