Well, I think my Saab ownership experience is coming to an unfortunate ending with me at the short end. You can check my previous postings for all my problems. I am probably going to trade the 9-5 in for an Acura TSX or TL soon.

A few years ago I bought a '96 9000cse with 60k miles that I really liked for a while. After nine months and a heater core, oil sensor, and other stuff I cannot remember because I blocked them out ($1200 in all), I traded it for a '99 9-5SE with 60k miles. I was very smitten for a few months before the love affair started to get rocky. It started with a clutch slave cylinder for $760 and kept going. The throttle body was next and recently the head gasket leaking and dreaded climate control control shaft.

I was getting mentally prepared to tackle these latest very big problems on my own. I think I am competent enough to do them. I have looked into it. Then I got to thinking. Turbos, SIDs, DI Cassettes, tranny shifting problems, PCV problems, etc. and now I see someones engine took a crap. I know some of you will say these are rare problems, but they will all happen to me. I can just about guarantee it. I thought about trading in for a new Saab, but the love is lost.

These cars drive like a dream at up to at least 120mph. I have done it. I put new tires on the car two weeks ago and then changed my mind. I am Swedish, how could they have done me wrong? My Grandfather will be disappointed that I am going back to Japanese. I did not want to, I have been forced to do it.

I have given up. I will not be an advocate of Saab anymore. I will not protest with a sign at the dealer, but I will tell people my problems honestly.

I also bought a '96 900 convertible which my wife drove for two years and we sold a few months ago. Only a couple small problems, but I sold it before any meltdowns. I rode my bicycle for a couple months and then bought a '91 Jeep Wrangler. Crude, but effective.

I will miss everyone here on the board even though no one really knows who I am. You are very helpful. I am sure there is no Acura board like this. Maybe I will just hang around here for fun and let people bash my decision - that is okay. I am not bitter, I am too beaten down for that. I am sad that it has come to this.
