Mine (03 aero mt)started at around 20 mpg, has been going up ever since (now averages about 24 at 13,000, but i haven't been able to test in by running a full tank all on the highway. The SID says 30 mpg a lot of the time. I drive aggressively off and on, and I'm sure that gunning it up to 90 to pass eats gas, as does pulling onto the highway to merge in to line with my foot on the floor. The latter is just safe driving, but not economical.
