2000 Aero- 93 Octane- 75-85 mph, consistently 25- 26 mpg. I reset and did some driving at 65 mph (about 10 miles is all I could take), got 31 mpg.
Aerodynamic resistance increases with speed squared so it is important that when people list their mpg they also mention their typical highway speeds.
Drag isn't the only component that influences mpg- rolling resistance of tires, mechanical losses in transmission, engine rpms/efficiency at particular rpms etc all have an effect.
But just for reference using 55 mph as a base drag equal to 1, you will get 1.4x at 65 mph, 1.85x at 75 mph and 2.4x at 85 mph. Incidentally the amount of energy the car has works exactly the same, so a crash into a fixed object will require the car to absorb 2.4x more energy at 85mph than a crash at 55 mph.
From getting mpg readings at various speeds it is probably possible to figure out just how much speed has an effect but maybe another time.
