You're the man Dean!
Swapped out the stat and things are back to normal.
Followed your link and instructions for the minimal coolant loss technique...worked like a charm! I measured what I lost...4oz.=1/2 cup of coolant. I used a small siringe style siphon, worked it down through the overflow tank, then popped the top rad hose at the rad just enough to stick the siphon down in there, got that below the upper rad hose and worked the hose off. Instructions for the stat were pretty much dead on, other then all four bolts needing to be removed were all hex heads, 2 10mm, and 2 13mm bolts.
Didn't even have time for the 3 beers you listed. Things went well in there and the 9-5 stat and the 9-3 door guts are fixed and both back on the road.
Thanks Dean.
