My non-professional advice is:
1) change the oil
2) fill with gas
3) go for a long hard drive - make sure the engine gets thoroughly heat soaked.
4) Park the car
5) Do not touch it again until Spring. Period. Leave it alone.
6) DO NOT START THE CAR AND LET IT "WARM UP", or in order to circulate the coolant or the oil or anything else. That is probably the WORST thing you can do to it. Just let it sit.
7) If you can't stand it and have to fiddle with it every once in awhile, put a trickle charger on the battery once a month.
Come spring, take it for a nice long, leisurely drive.
That's my 2 cents.
It never ceases to amaze me to see people go out and start their cars or mcycles on the coldest days of the year, and let them sit and idle, just because its the coldest day of the year. I've even see new car dealers do it to all the cars in the lot! In Maine, yet. It is a terrible thing to do to an engine for any number of reasons.
