As someone else posted previously, Saab does all developmental testing with Texaco for test consistency purposes only. I know that GM does the same thing, but the products leaving "out the door" contain transmission fluid from a variety of quality suppliers (GM).
For a while most of the products shipped with Sunoco oil although all testing was done with Texaco.
As for the Dexron-I comment. If you can find it, buy it as an investment! IIRC Dexron-I contained whale oil and was eliminated from service in the late '60's or early '70's. Dexron II was the next generation and contained a substitute for the whale oil. Some old timers swore that it wasn't as good - but it has lasted for 30 years in the market! Early in my career I participated in some comparison testing between transmissions being abused on dynamoneters - one with Dexron-I and the other with Dexron II. No evidence Dexron II was inferior.
