I would advise having all major services such as 30k and 60k miles done by a Saab dealer whenever possible. Have other services (oil/filter changes, etc.) done by an indy or yourself. The reason for this is the criticality of service for the 2.3lpt engine. There have been too many failures and the Saab Techs I know are on top of this and looking for signs of the problems. I use Mobil 1 (15W50 in Summer and 0W40 in Winter) in my 9-5 2.3lpt and change the oil myself every 5k miles. I have Saab of Vero Beach do the majors as I said. The other advantage is having the latest Saab info and software available in case your car needs it. Just my thoughts after 135,500 miles on mine. I plan on keeping this car for 500,000 miles. Doing it cheap won't get me there.
