It only took one side to throw off my Aero very badly. I'd say even more than if both sides had failed, since at least with both dead, the spring rates would match. With one gone it would shimmy, nearly threaten to fishtail on an fast uneven curve. The bounce test did reveal which it was, but it was very subtle.
I got a pair from eeuroparts for $80/ea., which included all the hardware except the carrier. Note, I had to destroy most of the original hardware to get the shock out of the carrier, the top nut was seized. Took me about two hours, most of that spent devising a way to destroy the aforementioned hardware.
