I've wondered, seriously, if the CD arrangement was the main culprit. I mean, shoddy construction got the VW/Audi inductive coils to fail really consistently. Saab's used DI since 1987 and it hasn't seemed to reach any critical mass in terms of very heavy discussion until the black DIs showed up.
Don't get me wrong, I spend enough time around musclecars to know CD in general will only last so long. I got may hands recently on an engine running the first Pontiac CD from 1967, but the actual control unit was mounted under the front bumper where it got *lots* of air.
That aside, I've noticed my 9-5s both hold heat under the hood much much longer than my 900SE. I've considered an air snorkel for the beast, and I saw a really nice chunk of extruded aluminum heatsink on EBay that'll fit nicely in the indentation in the top. I have no idea if ether of these approaches, or Dean's coolant loop, would help. But I'll volunteer for whatever seems advisable...
[Ricey thought of Actual Use for Hood Scoop flashes through mind.]
Dean, there's a zillion DI cars running around, and although not as rabid as the C900 crowd, I think people might care even if T8 goes inductive.
