he just couldn't seem to understand what was upsetting me so much about having that red DI cassette in my 9-5! i kept telling him i just wanted the part which was designed to work with my car from the factory, and that in the future if he was going to put parts on my car that weren't designed to be there from the factory, to please give me a call before going ahead and putting those parts on. he clearly had chalked up the whole argument to aesthetics.

anyway, a few days after that whole episode, he called me and told me he had a black DI cassette waiting for me, and swapped it for me that day. thank god.

i'm never going back to that indie, but FWIW, the red DI seemed to do fine in my car. *shrug*
