This device is held in place by a friction fit only. Some people have had success by prying the unit out of the dash with use of a thin blade. Mine was too tight to remove that way, and there is always a risk of braking the plastic casing or worse yet, the dash.
The factory recommended, best and safest way is to remove the radio first. Go to the car audio section of your local WalMart and buy a set of DIN radio removal tools, only $4. They insert into the four holes of the radio face, then pull the radio straight out of the dash (frighteningly easy!). Reach into the dash opening, grasp the rear of the SID unit, and pull it straight out towards you.
Have fun!
