Own 02, 03, and 04 aeros - and yes, are differences

So other than the visual differences - the 04 aero SW we have is gorgeously aggressive in the face, and the five-spoke wheels are very much in line with future saab releases
- The doors on the 04 feel more solid, close with a definitely more pleasant thud - more put together than the earlier models
- The SID is different - not particularly better - text is smaller, feels more "old computery" than the 02 and the 03, but is easier to cycle through all the information pages using one button rather than the earlier two
- The aero seats for 04 come in two trims - the two-tone ones, and the ventilated one-tone ones. We got the ventilated ones in all our aeros, and I have to say, the granite grey ventilated color is not as "high end" looking as the black leather of the earlier years. However, the leather feels nicer. So it's a weird tradeoff. The two-tone ones might be your style - if so, they fit in well with the rest of the car's look, and blend well with the black dash cover and door inserts
- We got ours fitted with the carbon fiber dash option - had the cheap looking silver dash replaced - I have that in my black 03 aero, and I am getting that replaced with the carbon fiber one as well
- Drove a few other cars in the process of buying the 04 SW - biggest reason I thought about cheating? SAAB doesn't offer a GPS and video display in the US market because they are pushing the ridiculous notion that OnStar is adequate for driving directions. It's a ridiculous thought to have to pull over to the side of the road, write directions down, then call again if you miss a turn or get lost again - in-dash GPS is logical and I hope reason prevails at SAAB on this one - as I said, this is the one thing that made me look elsewhere - and I drove 5 series, including the M, and several mercedes models. And i have to say, the clean design of the SAAB kept me with the SAAB.
Hope this helps
