In my '00 Aero, I have the same thing in reverse (clear shifter surround, everything else cloudy), but I'm way outta warranty. Strangely, my 99, with the same wood, is crystal clear. Probably a supplier problem, it is a known problem with the cure of the finish.
I actually lust after the lighter 2002+ wood, so I'm keeping an eye on Ebay to replace it (the wood, not the whole Aero!)
The smoky turbo is fairly cut and dry, I don't think they can easily turn you down with a straight face. In any case, get it documented on the service history. There's a 'new' PCV fix, as well.
