Interesting observations. I thought that maybe it "was just me"....I have driven several 9-3SS models (Linear 5spd, Arc 5spd and Aero 6 Spd. and Aero Automatic, etc., and have felt they were all somewhat underpowered and slow to respond to any spirited driving inputs. More turbo lag than I would have thought, at low rpm. Not as solid feeling as I would have thought (squeeks and rattles)
I drive a year 2000 Audi A4 1.8 which is chipped and has the sport suspension with Michelin Pilot sport A/S tires. The Audi really runs and drives well and is tight and fun and has been trouble free. This Audi will blow the doors off any of the 9-3SS cars that I have driven, so far.
Not trying to dis the 9-3SS, as we are a "Saab family" and presently also have a 9-5 SE V-6 (which is a great car), and a 1972 "96" V-4, and have owned Saabs for many years. I would like to consider a 9-3SS for my replacement of the Audi in 2005, but just can't seem to warm up to the 9-3SS. Oh well.
