Never ask/joke/etc. about something that *could* happen, or else it will!

As long as the chip is not in the driver's line of sight, the fixes done by the windshield repair places can be done, and work wonders. We've had 3-4 year old cars that have been repaired, and you can't tell where they did it. It's worth spending the $50-125 to get it fixed this way, instead of a do it yourself approach. Even if the guy working there is 18, he's probably done 100's of windshields, and is usually quite good at it.

The thing I don't understand are the free offers you can get from these places -- "we'll repair your windshield, and give you a free box of steaks." Hmmm, I don't know if I want a free box of steaks from a windshield repair place!!
