I recently purchased a used 9-5 wagon. It had a similar chip in the windshield, as you describe on your vehicle. The dealer from whom I purchased the Saab had their independent windshield repair contractor come to my home and fill the chipped area. The woman who did the repair was really into her work. She explained everything she was doing..... drying out the glass with heat, drilling a small hole in the chip, vacuuming the air and moisture out of the hole, filling it with clear epoxy and applying alternating pressure and vacuum to work the epoxy into the void. It came out great. You can only notice the repair if you look for it.... and it looks like a small discolorated and dried drop of water. As I mentioned, the dealer paid for it, but I asked her what she usually charges for this procedure. She said sixty bucks.
