Well, given the warranty exp. date you state, it sounds like the vehicle went into service in Dec '01, making it 2yrs & 4 months old, give or take a month. For comparison purposes when I bought my '00 Aero (CPO), last summer, it was a full three years old, had 39k miles, Red, BBS RKII rims, every option except vent. seats, and I paid $22k. The linear was the base 9-5 at the time, so my gut is to say, they're asking too much. The '02 had a lot of improvements over the '01 so it's a great car but keep in mind the dealership probably paid about $15k at the auction for this vehicle. My guess is they would take 20k (maybe less). (the sticker on my vehicle said $27k so pay no attention to their asking/sticker price). Tell them you were simply looking for vehicles in the high teens, and you hadn't planned on spending that much money. Tell them the most you can pay for a vehicle is $20k and ask them to find you a slightly older vehicle, with the same color/options as that one, and to call you back in a couple days if they find one.
Inevitably, they want to move the cars they have, so they'll probably eventually match you price (or come close to it), unless someone else 'falls in love' with the vehicle. Be careful about wanting 'this one' - it's just a car and there are thousands of identical copies of it out there. Just do a search on http://www.cars.com to see what's availble in your area.
One final thing to do: have your own financing pre-approved before returning to the dealership. After deciding on the final price (but before signing any paperwork), the last play to make is ask them what's it worth to them if you go with THEIR financing over your own. They might offer to meet/beat your rate, but if you stand your ground, they'll probably knock a several hundred more.
