Kevin, I did the same thing as you, i read and i shopped. I final decided to go with the contiextreme about 6500 miles ago. The TOYO tires i was running were so loud they drove you nuts when you had to travel speeds less than 20mph. I run 225/45/17'S and as Razl said i was not impressed with the snow performance. I did not feel they were much better than the bald TOYO's i was running. I love them besides that, great cornering, quiet, agressive but very nice on the highway as well as the back roads. The cost was great also. If i remember $40-70 less per tire than the other tires listed.
