When my car was new I would be replacing a bulb every 6 months, first one side then the other. After 2 years of this the problem disappeared. The H7 lamps are very voltage sensitive and I suspect my car's delivered voltage has dropped a bit. The lamp life expectancy between 14 volts and 13 volts is substantially different. A slightly high voltage will drop lamp life by 2/3rds or more!
Or maybe my lamps last longer now that I have six new ones just waiting in the garage. LOL
I called Sylvania's public relations dept and inquired politely if they had recently produced a bad batch of lamps. They said "No", but sent me 4 new regular life lamps and 2 new long life lamps as a goodwill guesture. I estimated the retail value of the 6 lamps at nearly $100. Not bad for one telephone call.
