You mentioned that there was no service records and that the car was Saab Certified aka CPO. Did you mean no records in the books, or no records on the Saab computer? It should be listed in the Saab computer as CPO which is an excellent factory Saab warranty good from when the car was purchased new, you said it was manufactured in June '99 so it must have been sold Aug 99+ or later, for 6 years until 2005 or 100,000 miles. That's a zero deductible, bumper to bumper, factory Saab warranty, with only one exclusion and that's the telematics (OnStar) and the audio equipment.
Why would a dealer offer a powertrain warranty on a CPO car? It's already covered. It's the car that has the warranty, not the owner, so the CPO warranty goes with the car.
You sound so blase' about the CPO are you sure it is? Check with the service advisor, it'll come up in his records. And if you have a Saab with 241k, why would 58k scare you? You can relax, particularly with a CPO car that's still under warranty.
