His answer sounds a little suspect, all service/work performed at Saab dealerships is entered into the SAAB IRIS system which can be pulled up at any dealership. When I bought my used '00 Aero CPO last summer I asked for the exact same thing. The salesman really gave me the run around, from telling me it wasn't possible, until his story changed to 'I couldn't' due to privacy protection reasons involving the previous buyer. Eventually I returned the dealership, went in the back entrance directly to service and asked for the service history of the vehicle, giving the VIN # to the guy at the service desk.

My vehicle was an off-lease vehicle from '00 so all maintence costs were covered up to 30,000. My vehicle had 39k miles on it at time of sale, but maintence stopped at 30,000. I guess if it wasn't free the original lease holder wasn't going to do work. I believe all this maintence was done at a dealership in Southern CT - where it was bought from (also some emissions testing paperwork I found in the glove compartment indicated the owner lived in that area) My dealer did some prep work to get CPO certified, such as replacing a broken sunroof wind deflector and some other minor things - these were all on the same printout.

As for your case, return to the service desk of the dealership, give them your VIN, and ask for the service history. Honestly, I don't know what all the damn secrecy is about. It's there in the system and unless the vehicle has an issue you should be concerned about I would think they would want to show you the history. I was getting nervous with my vehicle due to the salesman efforts to hide the history. Once I got it, I was happily suprised to see it was well maintained - deal closed. Most importantly the service history page will also post the warranty period at the top of the page. This was the ONLY indicator I had from the dealership, other than the salesman word, that the vehicle was CPO and had an extended warranty. It wasn't until I saw the date April 2006,100K miles on that printout did I really know it was a CPO.
