The '99s, according to Consumer Reports, did have lower reliability, and from what I've noticed from reading this board, seem to have lower reliability. Lots more people write in about their '99s than anything else. As far as '00, '01, '02 I'd have to say it's about the same frequency.
I would be concerned about the warranty he offered because one of the major warranty companies went belly up about a month ago. It might be indicative of serious issues with the entire industry. The 30 day warranty offered by the dealer is not 'offered' by the dealer - it's probably mandated by state law. Many states require a minimum 30 day period.
