It would be interesting to rig up NiMH cad cells with an onboard trickle charger powered from the 12VDC of the vehicle, using a voltage regulator and a ballist resistor to limit charging rates.
I am thinking that all 3V lithium cell is probably 3.6V -any comments?

Note: Lithium cells will get hot and explode and maybe cause a fire if shorted out. Be careful with these. The ones with expose wire leads need careful handling.
