Well, I did it. Fixed it myself, saved $460. Would only recommend this to folks that are comfortable with a soldering iron and electronics. To start off, the two batteries in the Saab Alarm Module are:

SANYO: Cylindrical Lithium 3 volt type: CR 17335SET-F ($8 or $9 each off the web). They are 1800mAH and soldered AND GLUED to the PC board. If you can't find exact, get same physical size with leads on the cells for PC board mounting. Here's how to do it:

1. Remove driver side front wheel and wheel well liner (pretty easy).
2. You will see the back of the alarm module inside the front fender, beside the windshield washer container. Remove 10mm bolt (bottom) and 10mm nut (top), disconnect cable and voila, it's in your hand.
3. Take it inside and remove six phillips screws. Carefully pry two housing sections apart (don't damage seal). Remove two small siren annunciator plugs. PC board should be free now and in your hands.
4. IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE NOW, VERY CAREFULLY REMOVE THE TWO LITHIUM CELLS FROM THE PC BOARD with soldering pencil. If you see water damage (as was the case with mine), you CANNOT just start to scrape away or brush with a metal bristle as you will SHORT THE CELLS and create a dangeruos situation. REMOVE THE CELLS FIRST.
5. Use a sharp knife under the cells to crack the glue and then a small screw driver under the cell, gently prying one side of each cell at a time while you heat the connection to remove.
6. With the cells removed, clean the PC board as required. In my case, the foil to one side of the cells was eaten away, creating an open circuit. The cells were fine and I didn't have to replace them.
7. Install new lithium cells, solder in place.
8. Put PC board back in housing, connect the two siren annunciator plugs and put the two housing pieces together. You can use silicone sealant if the original seal is suspect.
9. Secure with the six phillips screws and put back into the car.

The "Service Theft Alarm" warning should go away next time you turn on the ignition. If not, turn vehicle off, remove fuse 17 (I think), wait 30 secs, replace and away you go.

Hope this small contribution to all you Sabb folks is helpful.
