"front light failure" troubles... HELP!

Since about a month ago, there seems to be a gremlin in my headlights (lowbeam). I keep getting a "front ligt failure" message on the SID. I did a little research on this board and found out a lot of people had this problem, and solved it buy either buying or fixing the orange "lamp control" relay under the hood. I decided to do a DIY job and opened up the relay, finding hair-line cracks in the solder. I resoldered every contact but it came to no avail, I still received the message. Thinking that I might not have soldered the relay correctly, I bought a new one from taliaferro. I replaced it with the old one today and I STILL received the message. Thinking of other possible problems, I tried interchanging the grey headlight relays, this didn't work either. I then removed and checked out all the individual small blade fuses under the hood, none were blown. I swapped the headlight bulbs from the left side to the right side, they both worked so I thought the bulbs couldnt be the problem. While I was doing this I noticed that the plastic connector for the right headlight (the one having the problems) was a little "melted" looking and had a small chip in it, this allowed the metal wire terminal to come out relatively easily. Could this be the problem?? It would logically seem it might be, but while playing around with interchanging the light-bulbs, etc, the left headlight went out and the right one went on.. very weird. Anyone have any ideas?
