I advice against driving the car.
I suspect it could be a bad serpentine belt pulley or maybe a water pump.
If the serpentine belt jumps of the track you will loose the water pump and all other accessiories like power steering and alternator.
Without the waterpump rotating the engine will over heat very quickly and you could ruin the engine.
If it is the bearing for the waterpump, you are running a risk that the waterpump pulley eats its way into the front engine cover and allows oil to leak out.
And yes, if it is the timing chain making that raucous it can only get worse from here (but I don't think it is).
