Great info...in this case, only one accessory sees a change, that's the power steering pump, it looks to lose around 45 degrees of contact with the face of the belt. (The upper idler also sees less.) All the rest of the accessories (waterpump, alt, aircon, crank, tensioner) have the same contact area as before, and the tension is the same.
One would expect to see power assist problems if it had an insufficient contact area, although nobody's reported any in the 9-3 or NG. I can't remember if the assist in these cars is speed-variable.
Since you have a textbook, tho, it may have some additional info...does it say anything about lash given a long run of belt? What's the minimum suggested contact area on a given pulley? Does the math hold for all types of belts? (Is there any difference between flat, V, or a poly-V?)
