We bought a new 9-5 wagon today and I am very excited about it. That being said, when we got it home we noticed a few small pieces of broken glass (pencil eraser size and smaller) in nooks and crannies in the back. Upon further inspection we found them in tons of places: under the spare tire, in carveouts in the rear hatch, etc. About 40 in all so far. Clearly a window was broken and replaced at some point and whoever replaced it didn't do a thorough job of cleaning up. I'm now noticing a rattle when I move the rear hatch, so there are clearly pieces somewhere in there too.
None of this was disclosed to us when we bought the car. Now I'm worried about what else is wrong.
We're going back to the dealer first thing in the morning (taking off from work to do so). I'd like to insist on a different car. If they won't do that, they're going to need to go through the car very thoroughly to find all the shards and I fear that I'll be finding more for months to come.
I also feel strongly that they need to do something to make this up to me. Any suggestions as to approach?
