TJ..
Still have the 2000 but it will be sold shortly. Picked up a 2003 demo with 3k miles. I just put the same 18's on and man, the difference in weight made a huge difference (18's only weighing 17.8lbs). I'm curious what the formula is to calculate torque necessary to turn extra weight in a wheel because the difference was obvious. I got new tires as the cheap but sticky kumho 712's were shot after only 8k miles. I could have gotten away with using them a bit longer but they had worn unevenly and become quite noisy. I went with the Pirelli PZero Nero M+S as they were inexpensive, got good reviews and have a nice 400 treadwear rating. The sidewalls are a bit spongy and don't provide the nice crisp turn in feel I was used to but they sure absorb the bumps nicely providing a smoother ride than the stock 17's with the PZero Rosso's. They hold ok in the corners and have a nice gradual drift without any sudden traction losses. From what I have read they should be more grippy after a few hundred miles of breaking in. They are not directional tires either so I can rotate them between the sides without having to dismount from the rims. I'll snap some shots of the new one if you like. It looks very sharp with the 18's!
