I've had good luck with it in my two trucks -at least with regard to sludge.
Both were 1997 GMs. One went 110K miles before I sold it. The other has 160k miles on it. I took the intake manifold off the engine a year ago which ave me a look down inside the water jackets and the valley between the heads. Very clean for an engine which at the time had over 140K miles.
I have been warned though, never to mix the DexCool with other types of antifreeze. I'm told it will cause the fluid to gel, or gum up. It's possible that someone topped off your reservoir at one point or another with the wrong mix. i could see that happening at an instant oil change.
Anyway, my 2 cents.
