than just some discoloration of the expansion tank.
At this point and time I cannot say if your case is a result of the Redline additive, combustion gasses from head gasket or the coolant itself or just normal.
Looking back at all the cars through the years, pretty muck ALL expansion tanks turns brown on the inside with a thin layer that can only be scraped, not flushed out. It shouldn't happen that fast though you would think?
Leaking headgasket shouldn't be a problem on your 2002 (hopefully) but I don't know for sure until I have taken a couple of valve covers off and checked the torque, and that will probably take awhile since those cars still go to the dealer.
The dealer on the other hand cannot do that since the car manufacturer states that only up to a certain VIN in 2001 is at risk.
As long as the car is under warranty it's a lot of politics as to what can be done or not, that's why I'm happy beeing an independant where I can go more for what's best for the customer and not for the corporate welfare.
