Got one,
I had been looking for a wagon for some time, and the price for me was where it needed to be.
It had 71000 km (about40000 miles on it) when I bought it in Feb 2004.
I knew about the electrical troubles in the first year of the model from posts on this site and a general web search. I got the service history for the vehicle, and there had been extensive work done by the original owner, but I can see by the codes that most of was under warranty. examples: ECM replace, Throttle body replace, Turbocharger(48k km), aux oil cooler replace, and a series of problems around 67k km that may be related to an accident...
but i am happy to report that since then only a minor rear seatbelt repair, the rear oxygen sensor and a new set of tires, plus accessories. I think the major problems were taken care of, and fingers crossed, I did buy a spare DI and a crank position sensor following the advice of Ian Glenday, who has a really great 9-5.
I did buy the dealer extended warranty upgrade to cover electrical issues, for peace of mind.
Things I like - nobody except other Saab owners knows it is an early model...
Wish I had the one with the stick - my wife needs an automatic so I comrpromised... 170 HP is okay for my city driving style and I always have the Sport mode if I want to play..
in other words, I am happy with my choice
regards,
CrNiFe
