Help - Is the dealer service dept. full of it?

I have an '02 Linear with 20K miles. When I took the car in for the 20K checkup, the service advisor tells me I need a $300 brake job. There is no scraping sound indicating worn pads. There are no gouges in the rotors, there is no pulling, or shimmying when braking to indicate warped rotors. They are also trying to tell me that the car just needs pads but it needs new rotors because the SAAB rotors cannot be turned as they are too thin from the factory and there is not enough material to turn them. In fact, according to them, SAAB will replace the rotors under warranty as a good will gesture because of this, however only the parts not the labor would be paid for by SAAB and they will only do this for the first set of rotors. This all sounds fishy to me. Are they full of it or has anyone heard of this?
