Not yet - still twisting in the wind Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Ari, did you get the 9-5 wagon ? If so, does it ...., TKC, Thu, 12 Aug 2004 06:51:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife and I are still bouncing between a new Sportwagon and picking up a '01 CPO wagon. Most of the '01's we've seen look a little ragged, and they're asking $20K-$21K. Makes sense, as a wagon would tend to be a kids-and-dog vehicle. One local dealer has some very nice looking '01's, but they're asking $22.5K. Given that a new wagon (with significant improvements over '01) would be just over $27K, it makes a $22K CPO hard to justify.
We don't own a '04 (yet), but I'm very impressed with the ones I've driven. And these are Linears. It does feel like my beloved 9000. Handling is very solid and sure-footed, and the linear has fine power. It ain't no sports car, but it moves very well. I'd prefer a hatch, but they don't make it. The sedan is nice, but since I'm trying to achieve 9000 practicality, only a wagon really meets the need.
With the incentives right now, a 9-5 is an incredible deal. Maybe a couple of grand more than a VW Passat.
I'm just having a hard time shelling out $30K (car, plus sales tax, plus a set of snows, as the wagons I've seen have P6's). Yeah, I'll keep the car forever (I've still got a '92 9000 that I bought new), so it's more of a mental block thing.
We've been looking around, and I can't come up with a vehicle that even comes close in terms of ride, size (large carrying capacity with minimal outside dimensions), and safety.
