Lately I've been considering trading my '97 Grand Cherokee for a Saab. At first I thought of looking for a 9-3, but now I think I may look for a 9-5 instead. I still like the 9-3's, but I like that the 9-5 is a bigger car.

I've been looking at used car prices, and it seems that used Saabs are a pretty good value. Any reason they have such a low resale value? At the prices I've seen, I can get a used Saab for the same price as the same year Honda Civic, if not even cheaper. So it seems like you get alot of car for the money with Saab. I'm looking for something that is sporty, fun to drive, and luxurious while being fairly economical. Does Saab fit the bill?

Anyway, one that caught my eye was a '00 9-5 SE Wagon. It seems to be loaded with the V6 and automatic. Price seems reasonable at 9,900. Only downside is that it has around 80k on it. I really like the look of the wagon, even though I'm only 26 and single. So it's not like I NEED a wagon. I just think they look cool.

I've been doing some reading on the board, it it seems like the 9-5 has avg. reliability, but I've been reading that the V6 requires frequent timing belt replacement. I've never been a big fan of 4 cylinders, so I like the idea of the V6. But it seems like the 4 may be more reliable. Is this true? Any serious pros and cons of either?

I'm also going to have a 60 mile a day commute to work, so I'll need the car to get good mileage and last along time. Any chance of getting a fairly reliable 150k out of these cars? Also, what kind of fuel economy is everyone getting? I'll be drivng mostly highway with it, btw.

And lastly, does anyone have any basic tips of what I should look for and stay away from?

Thanks alot, I really appreciate any info and advice.
