As far as what's in the factory fill oil, I have no idea....it could be Aunt Jemima's pancacke syrup for all I know. I saw some discussion three years ago when we got this car -but I can't remember which board- that said they were putting some kind of Mobil synthetic in, but from what I remember it was anecdotal, second-hand-or-worse info, so who knows? SAAB does, but they're not tellin'.
In my earlier post, I was only relating what the dealer rep told me, personally, when we picked the car up, and that was not to change the factory fill for 5K. That was fine with me, because that's when I do my O&F changes anyhow (Mobil 1 5W-30, moving to 0W-30 on the new SAAB). I had already told them I planned to do my own oil changes, so maybe that's why I was informed...but of course I have no way to verify if what HE told me was correct, or whether he spent too much time in the shop near tailpipes breathing fumes.
