are the timing belt, and the water pump in that it is distinctly different and more involved to replace that the 4 cyl. one. They should have done your timing belt when they did the water pump given that the pump failure soaked the belt with coolant, a potentially disasterous occurence, at nearly the end of it's life.
For every V6 I've seen with a timing belt issue, many of which are due to poor/deferred maintenance, I've seen a 4 cyl. with a balance chain failure or oil starvation/sludging failure. Admittedly, the sludging is clearly related to poor oil change histories but some of these are letting go by 30-40K. That's ridiculous IMHO. My V6 was spotless inside when the belt failed at 91K, the prior owner having skipped her freebie belt at 60K (or at least the tensioner and pulleys which were obviously the cause).
The V6 was repairable at reasonable cost with own labor and much less effort than the 4 cyl replacement I'm involved with currently. It's tough to find a good 4 cyl engine for the same dollars as the V6 repairs set me back.
Just another opinion (and a decidedly DIYer perspective).
