I'm no expert, but I'd say the burden of proof should be on THEM not you. How can they say positively that the oil was never changed? The car has a manufacturer warranty. They should honor it. I had an "experience" with a dealer on my wife's old Plymouth Laser (=Mitsu Eclipse). I was driving it, coasting up to a red light, and the timing belt broke (16,000 miles!!). The dealer fixed it, but after that the engine ticked (the valves were bent, of course). They pulled the old 'dumb woman' thing on my wife and said it was the injectors. We took it in repeatedly (5x) and they still said it was the injectors. Finally the valves burned, anyway, I had to write to the (North Carolina) Attorney General's office (which has a pretty good auto fraud division), Better Business Bureau, etc. and threaten to sue them under the lemon law before they fixed it. Then after that they didn't replace the balance shaft correctly, so it still ran like sh!t and after about ONE YEAR it was finally fixed correctly. Then we sold it!!! You're in for a long fight if its 2K worth of work. I'd go straight to Norcross and raise hell. Good luck and be prepared for a long fight.
