abs alert warning light and check engine light

The problems multiple. 3 wks ago I had the smog test done for California and after, the ABS warning light lit up and the other two warning lights were on, but went out after 50 yds. Two wks. later, they all came back. I had the front brakes replaced as they were 80% gone, but the lights are still on and I have no speedometer. Sometimes, they all go off for a few blocks, but then return. Took the car to an authorized dealership and they say I need a $2,500 ABS control module. I'm trying to figure out if what they say is correct as they are noted for being less than ethical in this area. When I surf the Internet for this part, I find nothing that relates to it. And, now the check engine light is on. Any help would be appreciated.
